Trip to Utah

July 11th - Colton and I both left work early to catch our flight to Utah. We had a layover in CA, and our connecting flight got delayed, so it was pretty stinking late by the time we got in, but thanks to Andrea, we we asleep in our little trailer by no later than 1:30 a.m.

The next morning was the 5K run/Mile walk. Having had a late night, Colton and I forewent the 5K and supervised the kids who wanted to jog the mile...that was more our speed... ;) Then we had a tasty breakfast!

Andrea then undertook the great task of trimming and thinning Shellie's hair...I think it took her more than an hour. Katie supervises.

There was some hula hooping. Sarah Jane was almost getting the hang of it...

Then a family trip to the Manti Temple.

Then we went to cousin Zack and Megan's reception. The treats and the company were both great!

Catching up with cousin Jolene.
(Malea, Andrea, Katie, & Jolene)

Ever wondered what it would be like to grow up with eight sisters? Yeah, just like old times! Only a couple of sisters missing from the picture...
(Laura, Bethany, Malea, Shellie, Andrea, & Karrie)

On that Sunday (July 13th), we all had to be particularly beautiful for the family pictures.
(Meghan, Malea, Rorie, & back of Karrie's head)

Most of the families also got individual family shots too.
Neldon, Brenda, Ethan, & Laura)

Pick a number and stand in line, and try not to go crazy!
(Ethan, Laura, Amy, Ben, & Jessica)

Picture of me taking a picture...

I didn't do nothing...

Is it our turn yet?
(Baby Leia, Katie, Brett, Kaylee, Angela, & Shellie)

You have to be pretty tall to give Neldon bunny ears...
(Jessica & Neldon)

Getting everyone in for a group shot.

Is everyone here? We don't need everyone to smile--we just need everyone one looking at the camera. We will cut your head off and put a smiling face on it anyway... ;)

Pancake-flipping contest.
(Malea, Anna, & Katie watching from the hammock)

Did someone say "ice cream"?

"I could help you with that..."

"Look, you can get more if you tilt the cup a little."

"Yeah, just keep it coming!"
(Noa & Malea)

Then we had a family talent show.
(Ben, Laura, Andrea, Ethan, Jessica, Anna, & Grandma K.)

Even though it was a vacation, there were some who thought it necessary to exercise in the morning.
(Janna, Karrie, Meghan, Amy, & Laura)

The kids thought it looked so fun they had to try it too.
(Anna, Tyler, Abby, Hayden (I think...), & Eliza)

Brenda gives us a spiritual thought for the day.

And sometimes, you need a whole jug to settle your nerves...
(Shellie, Sarah Jane, Bethany, & Janna)

Rodeo time!

Timing/Judging/Paparazzi committee.
(Ben, Amy, Anna, Laura, Grandma K, & Brenda with Malea, Eliza, & Andy in the background)

The kids LOVED Cookie, Brenda's new little dog.

Hayden doing the water/spoon challenge.

Angela filling the measuring cup.

Abby and Karrie anxiously await their turn on the barrels.

Colton and I did a towel-folding demonstration. Ms. Jessica proudly displays her elephant.

Another hair session--Janna chops Karrie's hair right off!

Busy day leaves you a little tired, so be careful how long you sit in one place.
(Tyler, Nathan, & Caden in the background)

Jake and Neldon helped us out with burgers for our BBQ.

Janna teaching us a new game.
(Clockwise: Malea, Karrie, Tyler, Ben, Caden, Janna, Ammon, Meghan, Eliza, Colton, & Noa in the middle)

Friendly game of volleyball.
(Far side: Katie, Taylor, Janna, & Malea. Near side: Amy, Karrie, Ben, & someone else...)

Even Laura and Jason decided to weigh in on the competition.

Bethany sets Ben. Jason and Ty ready as backup.

Malea's prayer shot.

Following volleyball, Colton DJed a dance for us.
(Amy, Ammon, Caden, Shellie, Laura, Ben, & others doing the chicken dance...)

Next day brought a picnic at the park.
(Malea, Anna, Grandma K, Shellie, & Brenda)

Bethany, Grandma Anna, Andrea, Karrie, Grandma K, Shellie, Brenda, & Hayden.

The folks who helped the Wilkins' move also showed up for food.

Tut, tut. Looks like rain.

Levan sunset.

Grandma K has always been a bit of a pyro...

Killing the sand bees so the kids could swing.
(Hayden runs the hose while Rorie, Noa, Bradley, Ethan, & Dallin supervise)

Four-wheeler rides with Grandpa.
(Hayden, Daniel (I think...), Grandpa K, Haylie, & Noa)

Andy gives rides on the Mellor's four-wheeler.
(Bradley, Jessica, Nathan, & Andy)

Bradley, Jessica, Nathan, Angela, & Andy.

Hayden and Angela pet one of the baby calves at the Dairy.

Hayden

Sarah Jane found the shop kitty.

When we got home from the Dairy, we did some sidewalk chalk. I think this is Kaleb giving my giraffe a sky.

Elephant which I had some extra help on... ;)

This is the baby bird Jessica and Anna saved.

Sometimes you just get so tired you fall asleep right at the lunch table.
(Nathan)

Face Painting.
(Andrea paints Angela. Kaleb tells Malea what color to use.)

Angela almost done. Kaleb waiting his turn patiently.

Haylie

Angela the purple kitty.

Dallas the fierce tiger.

Jessica's fireworks!

Hayden the Hulk.

All the painted faces.
(Front to Back: Andrea, Eliza, Rorie, Kaleb, Bradley, Dallin, Hayden, Angela, Amy, Haylie, Tyler, Noa, Jessica, Ethan, & Daniel)

Bethany's contribution to the chalk art. She said, "The chalk wasn't very good, so this is just a simple one,"

All the allergy medicine made the file cabinet look like a small pharmacy.

Scott's good friend got him tickets to the MoTab's Pioneer day concert. They invited Grandpa and Grandma K, and Colton and I to go too.

The featured guest was Santino Fontana--the voice of Prince Hans from Frozen.

Just before we left, I walked out to see the animals one last time and to say good-bye to all the people I could find. Instead, I found two unsupervised two-year-old in with the little ponies. One of them was even barefoot!
(Sarah Jane & Noa (the barefoot one...))

Pretty sure we were flying over the Grand Canyon or something.

Yeah, layover in Pheonix...connecting flight delayed again???

Things might get...

A little crazy!!!

Watching the planes fly in and out.

Ready for our last leg of the journey back to San Antonio.
